Using a Server Side (CGI Script) Full Text Search

With a server based script, the server does all the hard work. The search results are almost always faster and it doesn't really matter what browser, or browser settings, your viewers are using.

All the default files referenced in this section are included in the Templates/CGI FTS folder as defaults and can be further customized to suit your specific requirements. You may choose to use the supplied CGI scripts for Full Text Search or use your own. The main strength of this solution is that we do not force you down a specific path by hard coding the functionality.

Our search uses a "freeware" CGI compliant ICE search interface. All you need is the ability to run Perl CGI scripts and you can implement this search on any Author-it published HTML document.
