Adding a Variable Assignment

Variables can be assigned to objects, and each assignment can have a different value.

To Add a Variable Assignment to an Object:

  1. In the Library Explorer select the object you want to assign a new variable value to, then right-click and choose Variables > Show Variable Assignments

    -or-

    Open a Topic in the Editor and choose Author > Variables > List Assignments.

  2. The Variable Assignments window opens, displaying the variables used by the object. The list on the left displays the default variable value, while the list on the right displays values that have been assigned to the object. Select the variable and choose Arrow Button to move the variable to the object's list and open the Variable Assignment property window.

  3. Enter a new value for the variable.

  4. Choose OK to save the changes and close the properties. The Variable Assignments window displays the default variable value in the left pane, and the new value for this object in the right pane.

  5. Choose OK to close the Variable Assignment window.
